I am originally from Southern California, where I worked as a geologist and enjoyed restoring classic cars. When my wife and I moved to North Carolina in 2003 to start a family, I took the opportunity to change careers and follow my passion for real estate. For my first listing, I received great praise from fellow agents for convincing the seller to accept a 7% commission for my services. I provided critical marketing, and the home sold in seven days; I should have felt proud, but something didn't feel right. It was the MLS that sold the property and it didn't seem right that this client had to pay a percentage for services I would provide to any seller, whether their home was more or less expensive.
From this experience, I created Selling Directly. The plan was to be honest and direct, and I worked to create packages that would be most effective for modern sellers. The concept has been so successful, I have hired more agents each year to help keep up with demand and now find myself more in a managerial role. While our unique flat-fee structure is a great resource for sellers, we have also helped hundreds of buyers find a place to call home at no charge to them. I hope Selling Directly will continue to be held in high regard with sellers, buyers, and agents alike.
