I have been in the real estate business for 22 years and have worked for traditional national companies such as Coldwell Banker and RE/MAX as well some small to medium size traditional real estate companies.  In 2001 I launched a full service flat fee real estate company in TN and have never looked back to the traditional model since. I know very well how traditional companies operate and that they would like for consumers to believe that there is no other option or that a flat fee company can not provide the same level of service as they do. This is misleading and totally untrue. Now living here in the Triangle, with Selling Directly, I am back at home. On the Selling Directly website you will find a list and a complete breakdown of the services for home sellers. Do traditional companies offer such a list? Why not? If you are paying thousands of dollars for services through a traditional real estate company should you not know what you are getting for your money? Where’s the transparency? And why do they operate under a percentage model when in most cases they provide the same services whether you are selling a $100,000 home or a $400,000 home. Yet the owner of the $400,000 home is paying many thousands more for the same services. These are questions that I often asked myself early on in my real estate career and drove me to a better real estate model. One that is fair and will allow sellers to keep more of their hard earned equity - the full service flat fee model. The traditional model, as I see it, is dated and unfair. It just does not make good economic sense to pay substantially more money for the same service. Especially when you can get service from a real estate professional with over two decades of experience.
